Beaver scouts ended their term with a trip a fire station, not just any fire station but the one at Biggin Hill Airfield. Beaver scouts were able to climb on the fire engines, watch the hoses as they sprayed across the runway and were allowed to the air traffic control tower. One highlight was when some of the beaver scouts had a chance to race each other getting dressed in full fire fighting clothing, needless to say the Beavers were very happy when the fire fighters said it was the adults turn to race, each group selected a representative and not surprisingly I was chosen! I raced against Young Leader Sophie who initially won although she was subsequently disqualified as she hadn’t put her feet all the way into the wellies! So victory for me and team B.
