We had Scouts from the 1st and 3rd Caterham over this weekend. We arrived at Braunston late on Friday night to pick up our two boats for the weekend. After the Scouts had got themselves organised they had a drink and went to bed.
On Saturday morning we started the day at 7.00am and headed for Leamington Spa. It was the first time for most of the Scouts and with the high winds it was the easier route to teach them steering.
After working our way through 23 locks we arrived at Leamington late in the afternoon. We turned the boats round and headed back and up through one lock before mooring for the night. After our evening meal we had a small campfire where the Scouts sang a few songs and roasted marshmallows.
An early start again on Sunday morning heading back to Braunston and on the way we had three Scouts who wanted to jump into the canal just for the fun of it! This was arranged but on entering the very cold water they could not get out soon enough!
The Scouts and leaders had a great weekend with everyone having a most enjoyable time. We had five gain their Power Coxswain Badge. Congratulations to them all. A big thank you to all who helped.
