1st Whyteleafe Beaver Report

One sunny autumnal evening 1st Whyteleafe Beavers set out to try and find as many native trees as they could in Kings Wood, Warlingham, having discussed in previous weeks what they might find and learning the Country Code.

Before commencing the ramble they collected and hid acorns. Then armed with a carrier bag and checklist they explored the wood and collected a variety of objects which were then used to form part of a picture of the future at a later meeting. Great fun was had, with the parents becoming very competitive and frustrated at the lack of horse chestnut trees.

At the end of the walk the Beavers then had to try and find where they had hidden their acorns and proved that their memories were much better than squirrels (and most of the leaders!).

We also spent an evening celebrating winter festivals making chocolate apples for Sukkot, decorative candle holders for Diwali and Harvest festival boxes. We raised over £40 selling cakes at the Harvest Festival service, the proceeds of which were sent to the Sumatra Earthquake Appeal. At the parade service John Andrews presented Chief Scouts Bronze Awards to Jacob T, George A, Sam C and Kieran F, all of whom will be moving to Cubs after half term.
