On Saturday 10th October I was invited to go along and take part in the official launch of the new 8th Caterham Scout Group. As John was unwell it fell on me to perform the official duties. Fortunately the weather was dry, if a little grey, so we were able to assemble in front of their HQ where a group of 30+ young people ranging across all three sections formed a horseshoe with their parents looking on. I then invested each section in turn, presenting new 8th Caterham scarves and badges as we went. Following this it was the turn of the leaders to renew their promises in front of the assembled mass.
Once everyone was invested I presented the group registration certificate to Penny Stock who is the new GSL and then I had the pleasure of presenting Sue Francis with her wood badge as a Beaver Scout Leader.

The morning was rounded off with the cutting of a very nice looking and even better tasting cake made by Sue Francis. I was impressed by the turn out and took the opportunity to wish the Group every success in the future.
