In November the 1st Caterham Cubs had an excellent visit to Skaterham Skate Park. Some of us had never skated, while others were regulars, but we all enjoyed it very much – even Akela had a go!
The children brought along their own inline skates, scooters and skate-boards if they had them and shared so everyone had a chance to have a go on most things. After getting our helmets and pads on we had a short safety talk and a demonstration on how to start and stop safely, and then we got on with the fun!
During our visit we were lucky enough to have a skateboarding demonstration by one of Skaterham’s most experienced skaters and he was on hand throughout the evening to give the Cubs any hints and tips. We also had a break for a drink and a snack to keep the energy levels up!
The evening concluded without injury, so the children all left having had a great time. As a youth group we were offered a significant discount on the private hire rate and we would thoroughly recommend it as a way of working towards the skating badge!
