Caterham District Scouts

Inspired by a TV show of a similar name, the 1st Caterham Cubs staged their own ‘Cubs Got Talent’ show called ‘The ‘C’ Factor’!

First, there were four regional heats – with each six auditioning in front of one judge – one of our young leaders. Two finalists were selected to go through to the final, which was judged by Bagheera, Baloo, Paper Beaver and, our very own Simon Cowell, Akela, and watched by an audience of parents and siblings.

The standard was very high and included some beautifully acted comedy sketches, a guitar and singing duet, a drum solo (with full drum kit) and a ballet dancing trio. The ultimate winner however was Jack G who won with a perfect score from all four judges with his brilliantly expressive recital (from memory!) of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Pig’. It is a great poem about a pig who ‘…simply couldn't puzzle out, what life was really all about’, and what happens to the unfortunate farmer when he does!
If only we could have awarded Jack with a recording contract you could all hear it – we’re sure it would have shot straight to No.1! Well done to all the participants and thanks to the parents for coming along!
